Do you know that understanding something takes several steps?

The first stage is simply to follow the main ideas, definitions, and directions from a lecture or textbook.
You then build your understanding by asking questions about the material many times and gradually understand its concepts.

You may have been told that you should “read for understanding”.
This is not true in a sense. Only reading may not lead you to deep enough understanding.

We need to ask questions and practice for complete comprehension.
Understanding one theme depends on our understanding of various related ones, and only when you grasp them all, you finally come to understand the core of the subject.
